How Mentoring for Khulisa Global Mentorship Movement Works

Mentoring can be done upwards, downwards, sideways (peer mentoring), one-on-one, one-to-many and many-to-one.

It includes general mentoring which focuses on personal growth or experts and specialist mentors in specific areas.  It also includes mentoring of mentors.

All it takes is 2-3 hours a month and using digital communication tools such as Whatsapp, Skype, email and other tools.  Mentees in Africa connect via tablets and cell phones and receive assistance with connectivity.

Mentors can choose their mentees and vice versa via our portal or may be matched using the Pivotal Talent Tool which uses algorithms to make the perfect match.

Extensive support is provided for mentors.

Key to the mentoring process

  • Creation of tools, resources and methodologies at every stage of the process that form best practices and models that are replicated and spread virally to other communities creating a viral effect.
  • A "pay it forward" and growth mind set of sharing and continual improvement where achievers and role models are identified and fast tracked into leadership roles.
  • An aggressive social media campaign that connects people, enlists support and reports on all progress and change which will inspire further contributions as people see real change.

Mentors and supporters are recruited locally & globally

Corporates enlist their employees to play a role in the process through volunteering and support.  They spread the word further virally through their personal networks using social media.  Their networks spread the process to their networks and so the process goes viral and every individual plays a role in the area of their experience and at the level of their comfort.

Influencers: Media, South Africa and other organisations abroad, networks, opinion leaders, celebrities etc.
